Folio(s) 1A-1B. Letter from the Earl of Berkeley, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, stating that he has received the Home Secretary's letter regarding the vacancies in the two battalions of Gloucester Militia. There has been a ballot and the South Battalion has only 14 vacancies and the principles [principals] have paid a £10 fine for not being able to find substitutes. Berkeley has written to the Colonel of the North Battalion asking why their vacancies continue.
