The General Expenditure Planning Division was created in 1980 under the General Expenditure Policy Group and there under the Public Services Sector of HM Treasury. Its function was to create government's general expenditure policy for the UK economy.
General Expenditure Policy Group had one other Division entitled the General Expenditure Control Division which provided supply estimates, enforced cash limits and monitored expenditure
