The Policy Analysis Division was created in 1981 under the Macro Economic Policy Group and there under the Chief Economic Adviser's Sector of the HM Treasury. Its role was the analysis of macro-economic policies.
A sister Division to the Policy Analysis Division was the Medium Term Assessment Division which, like the former, was also headed by a Senior Economic Adviser.
