The Carnarvonshire Railway was incorporated under act of 29th July 1862. Under section 45 of that Act, the company was authorised to enter into agreements with London and North Western, and the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast railway companies. A joint committee was also authorised to be set up.
By virtue of sections 43-49 of London and North Western Railway (Additional Powers) Act 4th July 1870, the Carnarvonshire Railway was dissolved and vested in the London and North Western Railway Company.
