The Carnarvon and Llanberis Railway Company was incorporated under the Carnarvon and Llanberis Railway Act 14th July 1864.
Under Section 23 of the Carnarvon and Llanberis Railway Act of 29th May 1868, the London and North Western Railway Company were authorised to subscribe further capital and so became joint owners of a certain portion of line. By virtue of section 65 of London and North Western Railway (Additional Powers) Act 4th July 1870, the Carnarvon and Llanberis Railway Company was to be dissolved and vested in London and North Western Railway Company.
