Folio 223: Memorandum by Adjutant General Royal Marines dated 14 January 1918. In accordance with verbal instructions of 1st Sea Lord, I have been to the War Office and consulted Colonel Steel as to their views. War Office have cabled General Poole to endeavour to remove personnel together with such material as possible to Vladikavkaz.

Stores which you cannot take should be so;d or left behind. General De Candolles who is at Kharkov has been asked to assist and will convey any further orders to Soames. War Office have wired in above sense to General Poole.
