Incorporated under Derbyshire Staffordshire & Worcestershire Junction Railway Act of 2nd July 1847 by name of Derbyshire, Staffordshire & Worcestershire Junction Railway Company. Under Cannock Mineral Railway Act of 14th August 1855, former act was repealed, but, notwithstanding such repeal, the company thereby incorporated was for purposes of this 1855 act to continue incorporated by name of Cannock Mineral Railway Company. By section 67 of this act company was empowered to sell, transfer or dispose of undertaking to London & North Western Railway Company with sanction of Board of Trade.
Under London & North Western Railway (New Works and Additional Powers) Act 12th July 1869 authority was given to London & North Western Railway Company within 12 months of passing of act to create and issue to Cannock Mineral Railway proprietors shares and stock of London & North Western Railway Company, upon which Cannock Mineral Railway Company should be dissolved, except for purposes of winding up, and vested in London & North Western Railway Company.
London & North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland & Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922
