The Bristol Joint Station Committee was constituted under an agreement dated the 23rd March 1871 between the Great Western, Midland, and Bristol & Exeter railway companies.
The Bristol & Exeter Railway Company was amalgamated with the Great Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1876 by the Great Western and Bristol & Exeter Railways Amalgamation Act 27th June 1876.
Joint Committee functions were transferred to the Great Western and Midland Railways Joint Committee constituted under Great Western and Midland railway companies (Severn and Wye, and Severn Bridge Railway) Act 1894.
