The Bradford and Thornton Railway Company was incorporated under the Bradford and Thornton Railway Act of 24th July 1871. Under Sections 4 & 5 of the Great Northern Railway (Various Powers) Act of 18th July 1872, the Bradford & Thornton Railway Company was dissolved and amalgamated with the Great Northern Railway Company.
