The Blackpool and Lytham Railway Company was incorporated under the Blackpool and Lytham Railway Company Act of 17th May 1861. In 1871, by virtue of Lancashire & Yorkshire, and London & North Western railway companies (Blackpool & Lytham Railway &c.) Act 29th June 1871, Blackpool & Lytham Railway Company was amalgamated with and was to form part of the Preston & Wyre Railway Harbour & Dock Company as from 1st July.
The company was also be deemed to have been included in, and to be subject to, the provisions of Lancashire & Yorkshire and London & North Western Railways (Preston & Wyre Railway Harbour & Dock Vesting) Act 1849.
Upon all debts being satisfied, the Blackpool & Lytham Railway Company was dissolved.
