The Blackburn and Preston Railway Company was incorporated under the Blackburn and Preston Railway Act of 6th June 1844. Under the East Lancashire Railway Amalgamation Act of 3rd August 1846, the Blackburn & Preston Railway Company was dissolved and amalgamated with the East Lancashire Railway Company.
