The Birmingham West Suburban Railway Company was incorporated under the Birmingham West Suburban Railway Company Act of 31st July 1871.

In 1875, under Section 42 of the Midland Railway (Additional Powers) Act, the Birmingham West Suburban Railway Company was vested in the Midland Railway Company as from 1st July of that year, and the Birmingham West Suburban Railway Company dissolved.
