Edward I to the sheriff of Northampton: after a recent order to sheriff to remove lay force which was disturbing Philip of Northampton, parson, in his possession of the church of Wilby, the king has learned from Philip's complaint that malefactors came and attacked and abducted Philip's proctor, Ralph of Axmouth; the king orders the sheriff sicut alias to remove lay force. Dated at Odiham.
Endorsed: that twice removed lay force in response to first writ, but then received writ in favour of William fitz Warin to cease interference, so his men entered and ejected those of Philip of Northampton; then received this writ and removed William's men, but later re-entered. Asks for advice about how to proceed against William's men at arms.
