The Bedford and Northampton Railway Company was incorporated under the Bedford and Northampton Railway Company Act of 5th July 1865.
By Section 24 of the Midland Railway (Additional Powers) Act of 16th July 1885, the company was amalgamated with the Midland Railway Company as from 31st December 1885.
