The origins of the Public Record Office Conservation Department dates back to 1838 when an office was planned to be established at 3 Whitehall Yard for the arranging and repairing of records. Since this date, a Conservation Department continued to exist within the Public Record Office. The Conservation Department changed its name to Collection Care Department in 2003.
