Description (What the record is about)
-
This series of files, started in 1956, concern liaison between the PRO and government departments about the implementation of the Grigg report and Public Records Act 1958, and the selection and transfer of records.
Records administration files were normally kept by the inspecting officers, who were the PRO officers responsible for advising departments on matters relating to records management, and supervising and approving material for permanent preservation. There was a main file for each department or other transferring body, and often sub-files relating to bodies responsible to that department, out-stations and sometimes specific series of records.
