Description

Cases include those relating to the status and disposal of records, access to records, the reclassifying of records in the PRO, particular instance papers, public records outside official custody and the appointment of places of deposit under s.4(1) of the Public Records Act, 1958.

Arrangement
Arrangement

For case files the alphabetical codes CA to CZ were used, although some combinations were omitted. Later subjects were added using an extra 'A' i.e. CAA, CBA etc. There were three consecutive cycles, each closed after five years. The second and third cycle were prefaced 2/ and 3/ respectively.

At some stage the files were rearranged in 'strict' alphabetical order: CA, CAA, CB, CBA and so on. The first cycle has been listed in this order, but subsequent cycles have been listed in the original order. Arrangement in the list is alphanumerical by former file reference.
