This series of Public Record Office correspondence files was started in January 1956 and consists of subject files dealing with staff matters and with the work and functions of the office.
Subjects include publications policy, records administration, care of records, photo-reproduction of records, the Particular Instance Papers Committee, copyright, buildings and branch repositories, appointment of places of deposit, organisation and methods, and the Public Records Act.

Arrangement
There were three consecutive cycles, each closed after five years. The second and third cycle references were prefaced 2/ and 3/ respectively. At first an attempt was made to arrange subjects in alphabetical order, but new subjects were added serially after subject code 193.
