A collection formed by Sir Joseph Williamson, the Keeper of the State Paper Office, 1661-1702, consisting chiefly of transcripts from the Chancery records then preserved in the Tower of London, and miscellaneous notes, extracted from the records. These relate to the King's prerogative, jura regalia, tenures in ancient demesne, the Cinque Ports and other matters.
It includes a transcript of the Red Book of the Exchequer and of the Return of Knight's fees, etc, known as 'Kirkby's Quest'. There are also some transcripts of charters and Irish pedigrees.
