This series contains miscellaneous correspondence and papers relating to the building, maintenance, staffing and regulation of the Public Record Office and the Rolls Chapel repository, including plans and drawings of the office and a register of correspondence of James (later Sir James) Pennethorne relating to the construction of the Office and the Museum of Practical Geology.
The series also includes departmental rules and regulations, parliamentary papers, press cuttings, articles, photographs and prints relating to the office. A few papers relate to Scottish and Irish repositories.
