Description

Reports, 1840-1861, compiled by the Assistant Keepers in charge of the branch offices which had been brought together to form the Public Record Office by the Public Record Office Act 1838. These were submitted to the Deputy Keeper and formed the basis of his annual published reports to Parliament.

The series also includes various reports and communications concerning work at the PRO, 1867-[1936], minute books of directors' meetings 1947-1956 and an unofficial journal kept by J R Ede specifying work done for the PRO and the Historic Manuscripts Commission as an Assistant Keeper 1947-1959.
