Each year the Accountant General's Division prepared a full brief for the Department's Accounting Officer (normally the Permanent Secretary) for his or her appearance before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The briefs covered the Ministry's expenditure under various pieces of legislation relating to nationalised industries. Between 1941 and 1968 these annual briefs appeared as bound volumes.
