Ministry of Fuel and Power and Ministry of Power: Accountant General's Division:...

The files in this series were raised by the Accountant General's Division of the Ministry of Power, its predecessor (the Mines Department and the Ministry of Fuel and Power) and successors (including Ministry of Technology). They deal with all financial work of the Ministry, including annual estimates, the appropriation and other accounts.

They also cover financial, management (including industrial relations) and organisational aspects of the nationalised fuel, power and steel industries, and papers relating to the renationalisation of the iron and steel industry Also included are papers relating to the Ministry of Power's Fuel Coordination Committee and Energy Advisory Council (EAC) and files of the Contracts Branch of the Division.

When the Ministry of Power was merged into the Ministry of Technology (Mintech) in 1969, much of the work of the former AGD was split between two new divisions: Fuel and Nationalised Industry Policy (FNI) and Finance and Economic Appraisal (FEA). Both FNI and FEA continued to use the AGD series for a short time but eventually established their own file series.

Many files with the AGD prefix, both on the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and the nationalised industries' financial matters, were re-registered into the NC file series.

The files in this series have been transferred in more than one batch. They are arranged in previous reference order within each accession.
