The London Office of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority was created as headquarters in 1954, from the London Office of the Ministry of Supply's Atomic Energy Division. It was responsible for co-ordination of policy decisions among the other groups, and for the authority's relations with government departments and other organisations. Additionally, certain of the authority's financial, commercial and administrative services were centred in the London Office.
Following restructuring in April 1977, the authority's five major groups, reported directly to the London Office.
