Folios 510-513. Letter from William Curtis [London Alderman, brother of the Rector of Birmingham, Warwickshire], forwarding a document which, in view of affidavits sent to Government seeking to incriminate the acting magistrates, he trusted would 'impress your mind with the sense of the people' and 'lead you to act accordingly'. Enclosed are the resolutions of a meeting on 12 August of the principal inhabitants of Birmingham expressing appreciation of the efforts of the magistrates, troops and constables in suppressing the recent riots, and awarding plate valued at 100 guineas to each of Joseph Carles and the Reverend Dr [Benjamin Spencer].
