Folios 495-499. Letter from William Chamberlayne [Treasury Solicitor] at Worcester, forwarding a letter from a Birmingham magistrate in the light of the intention of the Lord Chief Baron [Sir James Eyre] to make a report to the Home Secretary on the capital conviction of rioter Robert Cook. Enclosed is a letter of 9 August to Chamberlayne from Joseph Carles warning that an execution of a convicted rioter near the scene of the crime would precipitate further disorder.
