Description

1 collective petition with 3 testimonials (7 people) on behalf of Jane Richards convicted at the Old Bailey in December 1829 for stealing a shirt, 2 caps, a handkerchief and a skirt from a lodger in the house where she lived. Gaoler's report: not known here. Grounds for clemency: honest and industrious parents, previous honest character, first offence, committed crime on impulse not premeditated. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: selected for penitentiary. NO 28.
