Description

1 individual petition (prisoner) and 1 collective petition (11 people from Berden, Essex) on behalf of Daniel Knightley [Daniel Kightley] convicted at Essex Winter Assizes Chelmsford in December 1829 for housebreaking. Gaoler's report: character indifferent. Grounds for clemency: first offence, young age, wife and baby to support, distress of parents. Initial sentence: death commuted to life transportation. Annotated: nil. NO 8
