This series consists of policy files from the Administration and Social Security Operations Group Regional Directorate (RD) of the Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) relating to the control of social security regional and local offices.
The files were originally registered as files of the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance Staff and Establishment Division (SE Series). Having become the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Security in 1966, they were subsequently re-registered as RPO Series files of DHSS in 1970, without any change in their allocated file numbers. The RPO Series was superseded in 1981 by the CSM Series.
