The Library service was responsible for the provision of publications and bibliographical information on all subjects relating to departmental functions. This involved, where required, the purchase, display, advertisement, loan and circulation of books, departmental publications, parliamentary papers and periodicals, and the quick response to queries answerable from works of reference.
The library is part of the branch which was also concerned with personnel management for professional and technical staff and is ultimately responsible to the Principal Establishment Officer.
