Medical and surgical journal of H.M hired ship Robert Small for 5 April-13 September 1853 by Harvey Morris, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in conveying convicts to Western Australia.
[Note: ADM 101/253, 1A-1F are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/253].
Folios 1-2: Copy of sick list. Folios 3-6: Patrick Owens, aged 44, private; case number 1; disease or hurt, asthma. Put on sick list, 27 April 1853 in Queenstown harbour. Died 30 April 1853.
Folios 6-8: John Conroy, aged 43, private; case number 2; disease or hurt, retention of urine. Put on sick list, 6 May 1853 at sea. Died 16 May 1853.
Folios 8-9: Patrick Donnelan, aged 23, convict; case number 3; disease or hurt, phthisis. Put on sick list, 14 May 1853 at sea. Died 31 May 1853.
Folios 10-12: Thomas Beadle, aged 25, convict; case number 4; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 14 May 1853 at sea. Died 26 May 1853.
Folios 12-13: Patrick Cullen, aged 38, convict; case number 5; disease or hurt, hamatemosis. Put on sick list, 29 May 1853 at sea. Died 29 May 1853.

Folios 17-18: George Gibson, aged 42, private; case number 8; disease or hurt, Bright’s disease of the kidneys. Put on sick list, 17 June 1853 at Rio De Janiero. Died 24 June 1853.
Folios 18-20: Edmund Halley, aged 34; case number 9; disease or hurt, hydrothorax. Put on sick list, 1 July 1853 at sea. Died 4 August 1853.
