Description

Medical and surgical journal of HMS Ringdove for 1 January to 31 December 1876 by A. Gorham, M.D, Staff Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed on the China Station.

Folio 1: Instructions for the compilation of the medical journal. Folio 2: James [Strude?], aged 21, able seaman; case number 1; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 10 March 1876. Discharged 26 March 1876 to hospital.

Folio 3: George Master, aged 26, ordinary seaman; case number 2; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 12 January 1876. Sent 14 January 1876 to HMS Modeste for treatment being subsequently invalided to England.

Folio 3: Edward Elliott, aged 31; case number 3; disease or hurt, syphilis secondary and rheumatism. Put on sick list, 23 January 1876. Sent to HMS Modeste for treatment being subsequently invalided to England.
