Medical journal HMS Ambuscade for 28 September 1802 to 15 March 1803 by J Anderson, during which time the said ship was employed in Sheerness harbour and the Downs. The ship being paid off on 27 September 1802 all the officers were reappointed to her except Captain Colvill. 'We lay quite inactive till the latter end of November with very few hands and those indeed of a very indifferent class and forced only by want to enter for His Majesty's Service in the peace'.
