Description

Medical and Surgical journal of HMS Albion for 24 July 1808 to 6 June 1809 by Andrew Elphinstone, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in India and on a passage to England.

[Note: ADM 101/82/3, 3A-3L are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/82/3].

In this journal reference is made to the following names George Wood, aged 45, landsman (folios 1-2); John Girdley, aged 32 (folios 1-2), marine; Henry Rourke, aged 29, landsman (folios 1-2); William White (folio 2); John Kenny (folios 3-4), Michael Sherriff (folios 3-4) and John Dazard (folios 3-4), Samuel Newman (folios 3-4); John Tilby, aged 20, landsman who died 20 August 1808 from bilious flux (folio 3); Thomas Clarke, aged 25, able seaman (folio 4); John Scott (folio 4); Robert Warren (folio 4); James Morton, aged 26, marine (folios 4-5); Joseph Smith, aged 23, died on 10 September 1808 from chronic flux (folio 5); John Mitcheson, aged 18, who died on 18 November 1808 (Folio 5); James Burrow, aged 57 (folio 6); George Bain, aged 61 (folio 6); Charles Smith, aged 30 (folio 7); John Wilson, aged 27, landsman (folio 7); William Bryant, aged 34, (folios 8-10).
