Folio 3: A nosological synopsis of the sick book kept during the period of this journal.

Folios 4-6: Surgeon's general remarks. The surgeon states that it is the first time he had to return a blank journal as he had 'not a single case worthy of note'. Mentions that 301 prisoners were embarked on 22-23 October 1849 at Queenstown. One of the convicts (William Quinlan) was supposed to be feigning insanity.
