Description

Medical and surgical journal of HMS Champion for 1 October 1831 to 23 June 1832 by Thomas Johnston, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in the West Indies. [Note: ADM 101/15/6, 6A-6B are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/15/6].

Folios 1-4: Copy of the daily sick book.

Folios 5-6: James O'Mailey, aged 32, gunner's crew; case number 1; disease or hurt, ischuria vesicalis. Put on sick list, 29 September 1831 at Bermuda. Discharged 8 October 1831.

Folio 6: John Herbert, aged 39, corporal of marines; case number 2; disease or hurt, haemoptysis. Put on sick list, 14 October 1831 between Bermuda and Barbadoes. Discharged 17 October 1831 to duty.

Folios 6-7: John McCullock, aged 24, able seaman; case number 3; disease or hurt, phlogosis malleoli opthalmia. Put on sick list, 17 October 1831 at sea off St Vincent. Discharged 12 November 1831 to duty.
