Description

Medical journal of the convict ship Minerva, for 18 August to 26 December 1839 by Patrick Magovern, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage from Dublin to Sydney, New South Wales.

[Note: ADM 101/54/6, 6A and 6B are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/54/6].

Folio 1: Pat Quinn, aged 4; seaman; case number 1; sick or hurt, fracture of both bones of the left arm; put on sick list, 25 August 1839 at sea. Discharged 23 September 1839 cured.

Folio 2: Michael Sullivan, aged 4 years and 5 months, convict's child; boy; case number 2; sick or hurt, varicella; put on sick list, 27 August 1839 at sea. Discharged 7 September 1839.

Folios 2-3: Catherine Irvine, aged 35; convict; case number 3; sick or hurt, spasmodic asthma; put on sick list, 30 August 1839, died 5 September 1839.

Folios 3-4: Catherine Lindon, aged 23; convict; sick or hurt, case number 4; parturition; put on sick list, 2 September 1839, discharged 1 October 1839.
