Description (What the record is about)
- This dataset contains data relating to the Postal Survey of social landlords of the 1996 English House Condition Survey. This was a survey of local authority and housing association landlords, to identify the action they had taken (or intended to take) on their own housing stock. In the case of local authorities, the survey identified action they had taken or intended to take in the private sector and public sector. Accordingly, three survey forms were used to gather this data. For Housing Associations, the information collected includes tenure and dwelling details, including detail on property ownership, special needs housing, relettings and vacancies, and description of the dwelling type; management arrangements; dwelling / block condition, consent to make improvements, and tenant responsibilities; works done on estates, and contains details on estate size, work done to the estate, responsive major works, responsive minor works, planned or programmed major works, cyclical maintenance and estate condition;and works carried out to dwellings, including detail on responsive major works, responsive minor works, planned major reimprovements, and rehabilitation works. For local authority public sector stock, the information collected includes tenure and dwelling details, including detail on property ownership, special needs housing, relettings and vacancies, pest inspections, and description of the dwelling type; management arrangements; actions on individual dwellings, including dates, works done, costs, grant applications; and estate level actions to housing or the environment. For local authority private sector stock, the information collected includes tenure; data on area level actions; types of works done to housing and the environment, with dates; sources of funding for works; data on block /group actions, with dates; types of works done to dwellings, with total costs; data on individual grants; costs associated with grants; and data on compulsory purchase and enforcement action. This dataset contains 18 tables.
