Description (What the record is about)
- This dataset contains data which was gathered from the clerks of"rural" parish councils during the third Survey of Rural Services, conducted in 1997 by Public Attitude Surveys Limited on behalf of the Rural Development Commission. Survey questionnaires were sent to parish councils in April 1997 and were meant to be returned to Rural Community Councils or county councils by 30 June 1997. Parish clerks were asked to ensure that the information which they supplied was accurate on the date that they completed the questionnaire, although questions relating to the provision of public transport services (questions 25-27 on the questionnaire) asked for information for the week commencing 7 April 1997. This dataset consists of 39 tables (one per county). The parish table (Table 39) is a lookup table for parish codes contained in each of the other county tables.
