This series contains files of the Labour Exchanges Department of the Board of Trade, the Employment, Employment and Training, Unemployment Insurance and Finance Departments of the Ministry of Labour, and the Unemployment Insurance Division of the Ministry of National Insurance and its successors relating to the general and financial administration of the unemployment insurance scheme.
Questions covered include insurability, the right to benefit (including queries over strike action), out-of-work donations, traditional and extended benefit, fraudulent claims, dependants' allowances and the provision of special schemes for certain industries.
The series also includes correspondence, circulated papers, minutes and reports of the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee.
