Description

Medical journal kept on board His Majesty's gun vessel Furious for 20 August 1801 to 22 April 1802 by Thomas Roberts, Surgeon's Mate, during which time the said ship was employed in the Channel service.

[Note: ADM 101/101/4, 4A-4D are produced as a single document: order as ADM 101/101/4].

Folio 1: Title page.

Folio 2: Luke Bushnell, aged 21, marine; disease or hurt, fever, pain in the head and back, nausea, white tongue, quick and moderately full pulse etc. Taken ill, 20 August 1801. Discharged 20 August 1801.

Folio 2: Henry Seaman, aged 44, sergeant of marines; disease or hurt, chronic rheumatism. Taken ill [date not given], he had been occasionally afflicted for some months and was incapable of doing duty. Discharged to Yarmouth Hospital, 11 September 1801.

Folio 2: Thomas Fox, aged 20, ordinary seaman; disease or hurt, gonorrhoea, slight phymosis etc. Taken ill, 18 December 1801. Discharged 4 February 1802.

Folio 3: Joseph Parker, aged 21, marine; disease or hurt, fever, pain in the head and side, cough and some difficulty of respiration. Taken ill, 19 January 1802. Discharged 31 January 1802.

Folio 3: Robert Sudbury, aged 37, Seaman; disease or hurt, angina. Taken ill, 8 March 1801. Discharged 15 March 1801. Signed Thomas Roberts, Surgeon's Mate.

Folios 4-8: Blank.
