Description (What the record is about)
- This dataset contains projected population data for Primary Care Group (PCG) areas for the 1998 Compendium of Clinical and Health Indicators (CCHI). Primary Care Groups and Primary Care Trusts are responsible for the planning and securing of health services at a local level. GPs and other health professionals who form PCGs are provided with funding to work together to plan and commission health services for their local communities. Department of Health produced mid-1997 and mid-1999 projections of registered resident populations for synthetic wards (one or more electoral wards as recorded in the 1991 Census with a residential population of at least 5,000) for England and Wales, Health Authorities, and PCG areas. The population figures are based on General Practitioner (GP) list populations for March 1998, standardised to ONS 1996-based resident population projections for 1997 and 1999 for Health Authorities. Long-term prisoners ie those in prison for 6 months or longer, and members of the armed forces are excluded from the data. The dataset consists of 7 tables which contain various CCHI indicators.
