Folio 3: Mr Milbank, [age not recorded]. Master; disease or hurt, dysenteria. Put on sick list, 29 May 1831, at Bermuda. Discharged, 4 June 1831. Reports that dysentery had been epidemic among the troops on Bermuda for 2 or 3 weeks.
Folios 4-5: William Smith, aged 25, convict; disease or hurt, diarrhoea chronica, following dysentery. Put on sick list, 6 June 1831, at sea. Died, 16 June 1831. Had been discharged from the Naval Hospital at Bermuda on 30 May 1831 and had suffered diarrhoea while in the hulk. He was embarked among the healthy prisoners and the surgeon had no idea of his illness.
Folio 5: Peter Buick, aged 25, Convict; disease or hurt, [caries] labii, following an ulceration thereon. Put on sick list, 3 June 1831, Bermuda. No date of discharge recorded, last treatment 22 June 1831. Came on board among the healthy convicts with no indication of his illness from the surgeon of the hulk.
Folios 5-6: Mr Witcherly, aged 33, Mate of the ship; disease or hurt, dysenteria. Put on sick list, 11 June 1831, at sea. Discharged, 22 June 1831. Had been ill for a few days and attributed his illness to the brackish water on board. The surgeon, however, remarks that the disease was epidemic in Bermuda when they sailed and ascribed it to 'the then existing cause, which was a cold and [unprecedented] wet season'.
Folio 6: John Lewis, aged 15, Ship's Boy; disease or hurt, dysenteria. Put on sick list, 13 June 1831, at sea. Discharged, 22 June 1831. [This case does not appear in the copy of the daily sick book].
Folios 6-7: Thomas Smith, aged 25, [Convict]; disease or hurt, colica. Put on sick list, 11 June 1831, at sea. Discharged, 20 June 1831. He had been suffering dysentery for some weeks previous to embarkation and had been cured only a few days before.
Folio 7: Charles Dogherty, aged 25, Private of the 81st Regiment; disease or hurt, phtysis. Invalid, 16 June 1831. He had been supplied with rice and other necessaries by his regiment until they ran out, after which the surgeon had him served preserved meat.
Folio 7: Abstract of the preceding journal, being a summary of all the cases contained therein, nosologically arranged.
