OS 38
1870-2004
This series consists of certified copies of maps deposited with the Ordnance Survey under the provisions of acts or orders. They show statutory changes to public boundaries in England and Wales; for non-public boundaries the map may be inaccurate and cannot be considered an authority.
The map scales range from 1:350 to 1:25,000 but the bulk of the series is at either 1:2,500 or 1:10,560.
Each English or Welsh deposited map was allocated a DM (Deposited Map) number. Maps printed by the Ordnance Survey in multiple copies were allocated a DMX number. Scottish deposited maps were allocated a DMS number.
The list is arranged numerically by Deposited Map number.
The maps which were destroyed in 1940 are indicated in the catalogue by 'DEA' (destroyed by enemy action).
