WORK 29/10
early 19th century
Pre-fire Buildings: Exchequer Building. Ground plan of proposed building for 'the accommodation of His Majesty's Receipt of Exchequer'. This is a design for an octagonal building with bays at the angles and a central staircase, there are also two wings at an angle terminating in square towers with angle buttresses. Scale: 1 inch to 8 feet. There is reason to suppose that this design was never carried out. A list of rooms includes the following functions of the Talley Office i.e. foils unjoined, foils that had been joined, joined tallies previous to their being sent to the Pipe Office, entering tallies as they were brought to be joined, Talley Court and Deputy Chamberlain for striking tallies etc.
