In April 1970 the Central Africa, Mediterranean and Pacific Department was re-named the Caribbean, Pacific and Central Department and was re-named again in May 1970 the Caribbean and Pacific Department. The department was disbanded in December 1971, work on Caribbean and Pacific dependent territories passing to a new joint Foreign and Commonwealth Office/Overseas Development Administration Dependent Territories Department, and remaining work passing to either the Latin America Department or the Middle-East, Mediterranean and Pacific Department dealing with United Kingdom capital and technical aid to countries in these regions.
