This series contains Training Department files dealing with various aspects of training, for both British and overseas personnel, in industrial, agricultural, medical, legal and other fields and, after November 1966, public administration. It includes files which formed the records of the Committee on Training in Public Administration for Overseas Countries (Bridges Committee). There is also material on the work of the East African Common Services Organisation, Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford, and the Overseas Service College, Farnham Castle, as well as relations with the British Council and the Commission on Technical Co-operation in Africa South of the Sahara (CCTA).

The Training Department was merged with the Administrative Services Branch in 1967 to form a Development Administration and Training Department, which the following year moved to the Education Division. This department continued until 1973 when it was disbanded and its functions distributed to other departments in the Ministry. The Training Department was disbanded in 1972 and its work transferred to the British Council.
