General policy re internment of enemy aliens in war 1918-1943. In January 1918, in consultation with the Home Office and the military authorities, MI5 considered the matter of people, mostly aliens, who might be interned in the event of an invasion. Contingency planning for internment continues through the 1920s and 1930s, mostly addressing the practical arrangements involved. Papers from the 1940s relate to internment as it was in progress
