Description

These files concern the 1916 War Savings Certificates, subsequent issues of National Savings Certificates, the 1932 Conversion issue and the One Pound issue sales and repayments in the British Commonwealth, certificates issued by Colonial Government, and the dispersal of the London office.

Most of the files seem to have been created in a PH registry. It is not now known what PH represented, but the letters may simply have stood for 'pigeonhole'.

There are a few Death Claims Branch files, and a few Management Services files included.
