Records of the Information and Regional Organisation Division

Records of the Information and Regional Organisation Division, established to oversee the distribution of news and publicity in national, regional and international contexts, include registered files in HF 15 and review papers in HF 17

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Ministry of Technology (MINTECH) was part of the Department's Information and Regional Organisation Division (IRO) until 1968, when this division was replaced by the Productivity Services and Information Division (PSI). In October 1969, the functions of Mintech were expanded and an External and Information Division was established. This new division had two branches, EI 4 and EI 5, responsible for news and publicity respectively. In 1970, when the first Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was established, these branches were transferred to Information Division, which formed part of DTI's Central Secretariat.

The Division was responsible for information and publicity relating to the functions of Mintech and DTI. It carried out central work unable to be done by individual groups and divisions, consisting of a mixture of international work, information work and work with engineering institutions.
